Evaluation of serum zinc level in patients with Alopecia Areata

Background: Alopecia areata (AA) is non-scarring telogenic alopecia of autoimmune etiology. Clinically, the disease characterized by appearance alopecic patches or plaques varying size and number on scalp with peak incidence 2% in general population, can involve any age group higher prevalence younger patients. Aim: The purpose this study to estimate serum zinc level patient comparing age, sex match healthy controls. Method: A case-control was conducted total 120 subjects;60 patients AA 60 age- matched Serum levels were assessed all subjects. Comparison mean done between significantly lower found compared controls significant inverse correlations existed severity AA.
